Continuous Corners

At one of the free film screenings I started this drawing. As I mentioned in a previous post, there have been fewer of them. Saturday, while sitting at the art market, I had a chance to finish this sketch.

graphite on paper, 8.5" x 11"

  1. how do you start your drawings? what do you draw first? they are so intriguing...i wish i had that steady of a hand but my style is messy.

For many of these sketches I work intuitively. I trust my instincts.

I started this piece by tracing a credit card. I didn't trace the whole shape each time. Once I was satisfied with the overlapping shapes I started a game of what shapes are dark and what are light. I just filled in the spaces.

I create works of art for the sheer joy of making them. Whether or not my works have themes or messages varies.
