Rock Series

In the fall of 2004, I was asked to have works for a small group show at the World Trade Center, in New Orleans. I continued to work with molding paste similar to the first three previously posted.

As I created these, I showed my students how letters of the alphabet could be used as a cheap design tool for making compositions. When the show went up, I was asked if the pieces spelled anything out in particular. Of course the answer was no.

Once in a while I have collected rocks from places I have visited. Having started with a rock theme for the other pieces I went through my belongings to find some rocks to inspire my canvas colors. In the end I did take some artistic license. Each one had “rock” in the title. See the rocks below.

Red Rock

At a workshop I played around with molding paste on canvas. This is one of three pieces that I painted following the workshop. It was inspired by sites in Denver, Colorado.
