Layered Lines

While waiting for a film to start, I took two pencils and drew overlapping parallel curving lines. When I had finished filling the page, I still wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with the image. It took a while for me to get into a groove with this drawing. Finally I decided I’d pick two intersecting lines to be black and two intersecting lines to be white. From there I played with the remaining gray lines. A lot of hours went into shading the rest of the drawing.

Sketchbook Back Cover with Silver

This is the outside back cover of one of my sketchbooks. I decided to play with a silver enamel paint marker making dot, oval and diamond patterns.

Waiting Filled In

Here's another drawing I started while waiting in line to see a film. This time I filled in the shapes I drew.
