Garnet Brown

When I was browsing Golden gels at a local art store, I came across some that had garnet in them. I wasn’t sure how they’d look when they dried. So, I asked a saleswoman. She told me the garnet gels would look like “bloody buggers.” Well, since I was teaching art to teenagers at the time, I figured purchasing the garnet gels would be a big hit with them. And sure enough, they gave me evils grins once they saw my sample painting.

Pumice Pink

Growing up as an artist, I always had my hands in paint. My family had a pumice stone for us to use to help clean our hands. It was great for pealing acrylic off my hands. Anyway, I was very familiar with the feel of pumice when I saw noticed that Golden had it in a gel. Naturally I had to purchase all three varieties.

Bead Orange

This gel medium has little clear glass beads in it. When I started adding acrylic to it, I decided to go with a “Jurassic Park”-like effect.

Forgotten Art

When I was teaching art I often worked on art projects to show students what I was doing. Many of these “in progress” pieces came home, but with Hurricane Katrina and the flood, I forgotten about them. Recently I’ve been sorting through boxes and papers. Slowly I’m finding my incomplete works. Many of these are near completion or just have me stuck. Yes, I sometimes have to come back to piece to complete it.

Premonition Pink Sold!

Well this piece is no longer in my possession. A fellow artist bought this shortly before Thanksgiving Day. That means I only have one left of the three pieces I created.

In the meantime I did start a new one. Unfortunately the paper I used did not work out as nicely. Hopefully I'll find a solution. I'll post it at some future date.
