While waiting for a film to start, I took two pencils and drew overlapping parallel curving lines. When I had finished filling the page, I still wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with the image. It took a while for me to get into a groove with this drawing. Finally I decided I’d pick two intersecting lines to be black and two intersecting lines to be white. From there I played with the remaining gray lines. A lot of hours went into shading the rest of the drawing.
