Waiting

During the New Orleans Film Festival I doodled while waiting in line.

Interlocked

Here is another one that has taken a lot of time. I finally decided to end it.

Spaghetti Junction

Having worked so long on some other drawings, I was determined to make a quick one.

Striped Circles

Yes, I used a circle template to begin this drawing. Inside the circles I made gestural lines. The other night I had just finished my latest grid. It was then I decided to go back to this unfinished sketch and render the shapes I had created inside the circles. It didn’t take me long to finish polishing my image. Given the “oohs” and “ahs” from folks watching me draw this sketch, I will probably pursue more drawings like this one.

Fantasy Grid

It’s hard to believe I started this sketch back in October during the New Orleans Film Festival. The drawing gave me something to work on while waiting for the next film to begin. Like similar grids, before this one, I kept the direction open-ended. I wasn’t worried about keeping shapes a certain way or having a specific formula for the whole image. My goal this year will be to create a finished color pencil piece in the spirit of these intuitive grids.
